Design

We offer garden design services for complete redesigns but also offer consultations for clients who would just like to explore ideas and benefit from some professional advice.

Consultations

Are £50 for approximately one hour and are required for all design enquiries.  More time can be added at an additional charge if needed. The client should have as clear an idea as possible as to what they would like from the garden and a rough budget before the consultation, so that the time can be best spent analysing the space, elaborating on your basic needs, and formulating plans. If the space is small and requires only a little design work, measurements and a site survey may be carried out during this visit.

Once all the necessary information has been collated, we will draft up notes for a proposed design and quote for the design work. Please note that this is pricing for the Design Plans and not the price to build the garden. However, if information regarding the total budget is provided by the client, we will design the garden with this budget in mind.

Once the Design Proposal has been signed by the client and returned to Kōdo Gardens, the total cost of the design will be divided across three stages:

A Site Survey

This is conducted so that we can assess the measurements, level changes, soil, orientation as well as existing features, structural elements and any extra features such as drains, electricity, water etc. The first payment will be taken at this stage of design.

The First Draft

This is the first opportunity for the client to see the design idea. This will include all of the main features and layout. We will talk through the design and note any alterations and also leave you a copy for a few days. The second payment will be taken at this stage.

The Final Design

This will be delivered once all the discussed changes have been made. The design will contain all the details necessary to plan the build of the garden. The final payment will be taken at this stage. If further changes are required, this can be discussed for an additional charge.

Planting plans

This is a great way to improve the aesthetics of the garden without having to change the whole layout. Plants can be strategically placed to hide or enhance features, brighten up dark spaces, create structure and enhance the wellbeing of native wildlife, as well as our own.
